Lee Costello Lee Costello, ‘The Bolton Bullet’, is currently competing in the Relentless 125GP Championship which supports the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, onboard the Vent-Axia/www.sp125racing.com Honda RS 125.

At the tender age of 3 years old Lee’s dad, Tony, bought him his first bike, a PW50.
By the time Lee was six he was racing Junior Motocross and since then he has raced and won at various levels including:

  • 2003: Preston & District MCC - Single Cylinder Champion
  • 2004: New Era Super Club – 125cc Runner up
  • 2005: New Era Super Club – 125cc Champion
  • 2006: ACU Star Championships - 125cc Champion
  • 2007: British 125cc Championship - 8th
  • 2008: British 125cc Championship - 12th

In 2007 Vent Axia recognized Lee’s natural talent and took on the role as his primary sponsor. The 2008 season was somewhat of a roller coaster which  saw him achieve some astonishing results on a bike which (on paper) was significantly underpowered compared to many of his regular front running rivals. Based purely on Lee’s riding style and his ability to carry such huge corner speeds a maiden victory looked inevitable from the outset of the championship.

This duly came at Mallory Park in June 08 in a race which saw him charge from 12th to first by the end of the second lap.

Lee’s impressive results and determination were rewarded with a wild card ride in the World 125cc Championship race at Donington which he rates as the most memorable highlights of his career so far. He finished a creditable 26th place and was the only British wildcard rider to finish the race.

Unsurprisingly Lee’s ambition is to reach the pinnacle of the sport in Moto GP and all who know him are in no doubt that he has skill and talent to take his favoured number 87 all the way to the top.
